Neighbourhood restaurant Valentina Café on Irvine Street in Mitchelton is a quirky combination of white picket fences, recycled timber and Colombian coffee. Diners can wind down on the verandah of this old Australian worker’s cottage and soon they will be able to mellow out in the evenings on a large deck under construction at the rear of the café. Bright coloured stools and sassy red trim create a vibrant vibe, paired with a menu crossing the borders of South America cuisine, with favourites such as a scrambled egg and crispy bacon breakfast tortilla wrap with cheese, tomato relish and avocado. Gutsy flavours for lunch eaters include black bean pork or beef burritos with avocado, sour cream and salsa or lock your lips around a campfire burger with chorizo, halloumi and smoked relish.
