Albury's award winning LibraryMuseum brings together state of the art technology, a focus on the city's heritage, engaging interactive exhibitions and the reading and research elements of a library. 'Crossing Place: A Story of Albury' is the Library Museum's permanent exhibition, and it traces the settlement of Albury by land and water, telling the story of Albury from first contact with the Wiradjuri people to the city of today. Albury Wodonga has always been a crossing place: a place of state borders and different rail gauges, a place of trade, a place of new beginnings for the influx of migrants who passed through the Bonegilla Migrant Reception Centre and, of course, a meeting point.
The LibraryMuseum also has a changing exhibition program, which features national touring exhibitions, works from the Albury City Collection and community exhibitions. These diverse exhibitions range from social history to contemporary multimedia. The LibraryMuseum hosts a an ever-changing calendar of events and programs means there's always something to do from programs for families to heritage presentations and author talks and much more. The annual Write around the Murray Festival is held annually in early September and offers an enticing array of award winning authors, performers and storytellers from near and far.
